Authors of published document have had no input into planning application. The drainage statement states that elephant spolied sand will only be removed twice yearly - this is highly inadequate and could present a public and environmental hazzard. This planning application cannot possibly lead to the increase in full time permanent positions stated in the planning application due to economic forces. The design in flawed and doesn't leave a lot of space for one elephant let alone the three that are planned. The herd is typically composed of up to ten females and their young. While seven acres may seem a lot to us humans, Elephants need lots of room to roam and eat as they can easily roam 30miles a day. They will require a small water in which to play in and cool off in. Elephants are capable of pulling up to 11.5 liters (3 gallons) of water into the trunk to be sprayed into the mouth for drinking or onto the back for bathing. Sometimes the spray dirt on themselves to get the parasites off.
